Botox and Dysport FAQ
Dysport and Botox are two types of botulinum toxin injections. Though they’re made from different trace proteins, both are considered safe and effective for treating wrinkles temporarily. Dysport is sometimes faster-acting, but Botox can last longer. In addition, different treatments are effective for different areas of the face. Let us help you decide between a Dysport injection or a Botox injection. Contact us today.
For Dysport, the effects usually become visible within a couple of days and last for 3 to 4 months. For Botox, the effects usually become visible within a week and last up to 6 months. Results may vary slightly from person to person.
Dysport and Botox are generally recommended for adults looking to smooth facial lines. If you are a healthy adult, you may be a good candidate for both procedures. Dysport and Botox are generally not recommended if you are pregnant, have a botulinum toxin sensitivity, have a milk allergy, or are over 65.
These types of injections, when properly administered, are safe for most healthy individuals. The key is to choose an experienced, skilled provider for your injection. Mild side effects may include swelling at the injection site, headache, eye dryness, or excessive tearing. These side effects are generally temporary. In the unlikely event that side effects persist, just give us a call.
If you take blood thinners, we recommend that you stop using them in the days leading up to your injection to minimize the risk of bleeding or bruising. You should also notify us if you’ve received similar injections in the past four months or if you take allergy medications, muscle relaxants, or sleep aids. The treatment itself is very quick and straightforward with no downtime.
