Our Facelift Types, Explained

A woman who knows the different facelift types

A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is one of the most famous procedures in the world. But did you know there are many different kinds of facelifts? From the quick liquid facelift to the dramatic SMAS facelift, there is a wide array of facelift options.

There’s a lot of information out there about all of them. That’s why we at Salameh Plastic Surgery put it all together into this basic guide! This explains our different facelift types so you can decide if any of them might be right for you.

Liquid Facelift

If your goal is just to restore definition to your facial structure, you might be able to achieve that using nonsurgical procedures through the liquid facelift! A series of dermal filler injections, it can restore volume to your cheekbones, jawline, and more that might have been lost due to age, which will naturally smooth out wrinkles and fill in lines on your face.

This type of facelift is as customizable as it gets. If it interests you, you’ll start by having a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Salameh, and together you’ll decide which fillers are right for you.

Neck Lift

Customizable to improve the appearance of your face and neck, is the aptly-titled neck lift. It involves tightening skin underneath the jaw and around the neck, and removing the fatty deposits found there.

It’s easy to personalize these types of facelifts to fit your exact beauty goals because the number and placement of incisions can vary. If you’re looking just to fix the lower third of your face, this is a great choice that can restore your youthful appearance in a dramatic way.

SMAS Facelift

This is the kind of facelift that Dr. Salameh recommends the most. SMAS stands for superficial musculoaponeurotic system. It’s the layer of tissue deep underneath the skin, and it’s one of the most important support structures of the face. That means that altering it is ultra-effective at tightening the structure underneath your skin and rejuvenating your face.

The procedure is the most involved, but it also produces the most dramatic results. Incisions are made along the hairline, and then the skin and tissue are lifted and redraped over the face. Excess skin can also be removed. The incisions will be closed with sutures and are typically hidden by the hairline itself.

While there are no facelift types that offer permanent results, the SMAS facelift offers the most longevity, with effects that are visible for 10-12 years on average. It’s also ideal for patients who want to look years younger with beautifully natural results.

If you want to counteract signs of aging and are considering a facelift, contact Salameh Plastic Surgery and schedule an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Bernard Salameh today! Together, you’ll decide which of these facelift types is the best to help you meet your personal beauty goals and look naturally younger.
